Energy Saving as Art?
Greenpeace joined forces with local artists in London this September to draw attention to the energy savings that fluorescent bulbs can have. These bulbs in particular are very special because they can be dimmed! Dimmable fluorescent bulbs are a brand new technology that Green Peace is hoping will catch the eye of people who have rejected this new technology for it's lack of aesthetic appeal.
The project was called Light Garden and is just one of the many ways in which green technology is catching on in the media. This week Google officially announced that they will be exploring solar power as a possible new business. Earlier this year the company decided to top Microsoft's solar panels at their Silicon Valley campus (which had panels first in April 2006) by putting up their own installation that is nearly three times as large.
