the gentle wedge

this breath is ours—and it is long—and it is deep
far deeper than a single set of lungs can draw
oh, how we draw! filling parallel lines
from opposing points [of view] with
sharp breaths of perspective.
the gentle wedge, sinking
between then and now
where then is they
and we are
now.
