Gobble gobble gobble!

The only thing I remember from my preschool:
During Thanksgiving time we always had this song we performed for our parents. It went like this:
"Gobble gobble gobble
fat turkeys, fat turkeys
Gobble gobble gobble
fat turkeys are we

We're not here for living
we're here for thanksgiving
gobble gobble gobble
fat turkeys are we"

It was a very upbeat and happy song

So I'm really excited about Thanksgiving. Best holiday ever (aside from christmas, but that's just because christmas means just about as much food). Here's my menu:
Herb encrusted Turkey with cornbread stuffing
double baked red potatoes with garlic and cream
sweet potato tartlets with ginger and cinnamon
Spinach salad with mixed veggies
Grilled vegetables with a balsamic glaze
cornbread
cloverleaf rolls
and for dessert: pumpkin creme brulee finished with candied pecans

Fuck yeah bitches

And here's what I'm thankful for this year:
finishing school (and not having to go back to Chapman)
Having a couple of jobs that I actually enjoy going to, where I make money doing what I love to do
Having parents who are supportive of me
Having a dad who loans me his bass so I can start playing it for real (again)
Having awesome friends who understand my slight awkwardness and sense of humor. (Ok, ridiculous awkwardness)

Thanksgiving makes me realize just how much I actually have.

Yey for the holiday season!

Wow! A dime wasn't even the best of it!

So I was getting annoyed at the amount of phone calls I was getting whilst working on my wedding cakes (which was odd in and of itself, seeing as I go days without getting a phone call) but the last one really was rather kick ass. You are now reading the ramblings of a pastry cook at the prestigious STK restaurant in West Hollywood.

!

!!

This, my friend, is where it all starts: A full time job here --> being a well known pastry chef --> working at an even better place --> opening my own place! (--> me selling shares in it while staying the majority shareholder and just making a shitton of money without having to cook on the line --> having a family that actually lives more than comfortably)

Hotdamn Obama does make the world a better place

Today's been a day full of hope!

I found a dime!

So I'm really happy that Barack Obama is America's President-Elect. It shows that our nation isn't entirely retarded. Unfortunately, the whole Proposition 8 passing does take us back a step or so. It's just one more form of discrimination against another minority. One minority finally pulls through therefore a newer one must be humiliated. I might be a ridiculously judgemental person, and dislike opinions that I think are stupid, but seriously, I can't be wrong here. Taking away rights from a group of people just because they are different sounds like bigotry to me!

LEARN FROM THE PAST MOTHERFUCKERS!

Ahem. Kay...

I do feel bad for Mr. Soon-to-be-President: he's got so much shit to wade through.

My dad told me a good joke today:
'So this old guys wandering around in front of the White House in February of 2009, and goes up to this one guard. The old guy asks, "Hey, can I talk to President Bush?"
"Sir, he's not here anymore. You can't talk to him."
"But I want to talk to President Bush!"
"You can't! He's not here!"
So the next day the same old guy goes up to the same guard and asks, "Can I talk to President Bush?"
"No...he doesn't live here anymore! I told you that!"
"But I really need to talk to him!"
"He's not the President anymore!"
And again! the next day, the SAME guy talks to the SAME guard and asks, "Can I talk to President Bush please?"
The guard's about going crazy by now, but refrains from punching this old guy in the face, somehow, and responds with, "I. Already. Told you. BUSH IS NOT THE PRESIDENT ANYMORE!"
"I know, I just love hearing it."'

I laughed.

I have a shitton of cakes to bake, assemble, and decorate by Saturday! I'm kind of excited in a nervous kind of way. If anything goes awry (definitely a word not used often enough I say) I'm kinda screwed, seeing as I'm runnin' low on food cash at this point.

Oh well! Things always turn out. There really isn't any other solution (unless you're all morbid and depressing and emo and always consider suicide as an alternative. In which case you should probably just get on with it seeing as people have probably stopped giving a shit quite a while ago.)
