Released here only in L.A. early October; people are willing to pay as much as they please. These $120 shoes soon were being bought for $500 at certain retail stores. But it does not stop there.

The rarity of the shoes have caused the price to rise...just to uhmmmm...lets say $1400 on ebay. Keep your fingers crossed

I was also invited to the nike sb premiere at the kodak theatre on Oct. 2nd...but sadly was not able to attend due to WORK. I cried for a bit but soon got over all the madness that took place at the theatre. Also if it is for a good cause. These two groups have been helping out the community in many ways showing that life is beautiful through art and the people who make it possible.

Russ Pope recently contributed to the Keep-A-Breast Foundation's Awake, Aware, Alive! exhibition to support youth breast cancer education and awareness programs. Russ's bust is presently on auction, so please cast a bid to help out this worthy cause.

New Image allows art from a variety of artists who are given the chance to display their art to the public. Its a great feeling when people go to art openings to see your art haning on the walls.

A Hip-Hop Classic

Its no lie that hip hop is different than what it use to be. All you have to do is turn on the radio and listen to the lyrics. Its all the same. I have not heard a song that after listening to it made me say, WOW! Well not until I heard about Binary Star. A buddy of mine made me listen to Honest Expression and my mind flew in circles. I knew I had to get this album. Its so good, you can actually taste it.

The duo started as an independent record label group, under their own Terrorist Records imprint. In 1999, they released Waterworld, which was recorded with a budget of only $500, because they could only afford studio time for a single take per song. All 17 tracks were produced by Trackezoids, formerly known as Held Hostage Productions. Only 1,000 copies were printed. Later on, they were signed by a distributor. This allowed Binary Star to re-mix and re-arrange the WaterWorld tracks and also add new ones. The final creation was Masters of the Universe. It sold over 20,000 copies, but Binary Star was never paid by the distributor. The album was released after the group had broken up almost a year before. OneManArmy cited creative differences as the main reason for the break-up, and says that although he and Silla have never had an unfriendly conversation and have done venues together, the group will stay disbanded. Currently, OneManArmy records under the name of One Be Lo under Subterraneous Records. Senim Silla is coming out with a new album soon under Sleeper Cell Records.
At the reunion show June 9 2006 in Ann Arbor Michigan, Senim Silla stated at the end of the concert that Binary Star was “back”. The Duo is scheduled to play at the Water World Weekend September 21- 24 2006.

Some of my favorite songs are:
Honest Expression
Reality Check
New Hip Hop
Conquistadors
Glen Close

Masters of the Universe is a 2000 album from underground Hip Hop duo Binary Star. The release is a remixed and rearranged version of their 1999 debut Waterworld. The album was one of the most acclaimed underground Hip Hop releases of 2000, though it only sold around 20,000 copies.

Myspace
http://www.myspace.com/4003715

Works Cited
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_Star_%28band%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masters_of_the_Universe_%28album%29

SB + Halloween = Fun

I have had my share of big parties but nothing compares to santa barbara on halloween weekend. It was great seeing familiar faces and getting away from the busy life of los angeles. I'll most likely be here next year. Here are some pictures:

cait

max

steph

chad with the happiest girl on earth

jess

mork is not afraid of cops

good times

del playa

super troopers

party at the moon tower

departure

The Quarterly

Probably the most interesting magazine I have seen or read since Vice. The only problem is that these mags are so hard to come by. They disappear as soon as they hit the shelves or when handed out at art events. You can also find some on ebay for $20 if you really wanted one. Luckily I was able to get my hands on one of them and ANP decided to send some to my hometown. Some artists featured in the mag are Matt Leines and Ed Templeton who helped start this project. There are 5 issues out right now filled with art that is different and beautiful in their own way. Plus, its free.

Here are some images from issue 5:

http://www.rvcaanp.com/
