Old S. Mohen Profile
Sarah (Sassy) Mohen – This 21 year old filmmaker has a passion for dancing, directing, and organizing. Her debut feature film Happy Holidays (which she wrote and directed) has just entered the festival circuit and has begun touring the country in colleges! On the Verge marks her second large endeavor, which she is also starring in, co-directing with filmmaker Matthew Stubstad and Producing. In addition, she is also working on her next feature script "True Perfection," a mockumentary which she plans to shoot in the fall.
Born in New York City and raised in Washington D.C., Sarah is eagerly anticipating her move to Hollywood in June once she finishes up at Chapman University. She also attributes a great deal of her individuality and ambition to her high school HB Woodlawn, which graciously allowed her to direct 5 plays, 3 feature films and run a film festival for two years in a row. When not focusing on her 18 units + 1 Independent Study class at Chapman, Sassy enjoys biking around orange county (partially because she still doesn't own a car), clubbing in LA, interior decorating and seeing as many films as possible! Career
•Career Choice: Filmmaker
•When did you decide this? Its hard to say. When I was really little I wanted to join the circus, but I guess that didn't work out the way I planned. Age 7 sounds about right.
•Why? Well, I was sort of a jack of all trades, I really enjoyed acting but the teachers would always criticize me for trying to take over and direct my peers. I was interested in dance, but the whole anorexia thing didn't appeal to me. I started directing more and more, until I realized in elementary school this is what I was meant to do. In my TV production class at age 9 I was told I had a natural talent for it. At 12 I was given the opportunity to ast. direct the Music Man for my high school and here I am!
•Who is your roll model? Hillary Clinton. Her or Kevin Smith
•In relation to your career, you wish to... make the world a better place for women
•What is the most difficult part? everything. It used to be trying to get people to take me seriously. Now it's trying to get my leg up into the professional world.
•What is the easiest? My ability to get people involved. I dont know how or why but I've never had a difficulty with that.
•How much money do you have in your bank account/Checking/Savings? Not nearly enough.
•What was the last thing you did for your career? started on the verge. Today I made a call to my sound designer to help complete my feature film Happy Holidays.
•What are your current job(s)? Starting my own production company, directing HH, going to school, server at Blue Frog Bakery
•How do you pay your bills? My parents have been helping me out since I graduated. If it wasn't for them I have no idea where I'd be. However, they aren't rich and say that as soon as I finish college I have to provide for myself. And I definitely don't make that much as a waitress.
•What are your plans for the next 3 months? Keep myself sane. Somehow figure out how to buy a car, a legitimate job that can provide myself with the finances I need to be a filmmaker in Hollywood, Take on a full load of units in school, maintain my relationship with my boyfriend, finish my next script, work at Blue Frog, keep a social life, figure out how to pay my bills. So basically figure out how to keep myself sane...
•How will you know you've made it? When I can pay back my parents all the money they've given me.
Do you think you'll make it? yes.

•What do you wish you could get rid of? my demons
Love
•Are you straight/gay? straight.
•Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? (If so who is he and how long have you been dating?) Boyfriend, Matt Stubstad. 4 wholeee months as of January.
•How many major relationships have you had? uhm well I would say I started dating at 15 1/2 and since then 7 guys have dramatically changed my life. But as for the most major 3 relationships (including the one I'm in now)
•What is dating like for you right now? Right now it's the easiest and hardest it's ever been. I love Matt so much and It's great being with him. It took a while to find a guy who's supportive of my career, most are intimidated by it. But what's hard is it's more mature. Its not like in high school where your biggest problem was your geometry quiz, now there's money, college, your future, real problems involved but we've still got the heart & energy of being young.
•When did you first start dating? What happened? hahaha. Well as stated I was like 15 and a half. I'd had crushes before but that was like my first *boyfriend* it lasted like 2 months and he broke my little 10th grade heart :(
•What was your biggest break up over? watch Happy Holidays.
•When was your last romance/date/hookup? What happened? It's still going! yeah baby! My first serious relationship in years! And he's a wonderful boy :)
•Do you want to get married? If so When? probably. yes. Not for a while. I don't think i'll be mature enough to make such an important decision such as my life partner for a while. I mean I have a hard enough time trying to pick one dress to buy when I go shopping at H & M! There's just so many pretty ones!
•Do you want kids? if so how many? Yeah... probably.... I don't want to have them if I can't handle them financially though which way to many parents seem to do. I definitely do not want to have just one. Being an only child SUCKS. Maybe 3 or 4
•And finally, where do you want to be one year from now? Not sitting on a metrolink train traveling southbound to Orange from LA Union Station, I can tell you that much. On January 23, 2009 at 2:14 PM I'd like to have woken up in a deluxe sweet in Park City Utah. AKA Sundance film festival, after having just premiered my next film 'True Perfection.' and hopefully next to a hot man.
