The day of change!

part 1

So today is officially the first day of president Obama. And what a fucking sigh of relief it is to finally have Bush vacate the White House. It's not just the fact that he ruined the country, but it's the fact that he stole the presidency in the first place that bothers me. And that the American people just let him get away with it, and re-elected him. It was a shameful day for this country and me, millions of other Americans and more foreigners lost respect for the "greatest country in the world."

We had become a laughing stock not only to the world, but to ourselves. And Sarah Palin? What the hell was that? Anyway. We finally have a leader who seems to understand what this country is all about. It seems the country is united once again and is ready to embrace the future. Forgo our stained past of slavery, oppression, hypocrisy! Of course the man isn't perfect, but for the first time in years and years and years I feel proud to be an American. I'm wearing red, white and blue. I'm ready to put the past behind and not just hope but actively seek a better future.

Part 2

I can't help but compare what's going on with the country to my own life. For the past 5 years I've felt a sense of being lost, I mean I've always had my feet on the ground but for a while I was just making decisions seemingly out of my control. Or in a terrible mindstate. But I think it's time to put all that behind me. The past all the decisions I've made for better or worse have led me to where I am now and that is unchangeable. What is changeable is every day a person has the choice of what they want to do. If they want to make something of their day or ruin it. Or just do nothing and let life pass you by.

In the spirit of change I'm going to change my outlook. Keep going after my happiness, whatever that means and quit being held back by my past!! Forward progression!!

Didn't know you felt that held back by your past, I'd say you're in the right path... but if you believe you should do things differently now, go ahead!
